Bossa Family

I was lucky enough to cross paths with the Bossa family in Luang Prabang, Laos. I love this sleepy little town. Full of temples, delicious restaurants, and great cooking classes. We started chatting on my favorite French breakfast and we both agreed that this restaurant is the best in all of Luang Prabang for breakfast, reading a book and relaxing. He also told me that they had taken the entire year to travel the world with their two young adults, the boy is 13 and the girl is 11. I enjoyed hearing where they have been and where they are planning on going next. I aslo found their story fascinating. I gave them card and told them, if you're in Bangkok and you'd like a family photo shoot to contact me. I set off for my cooking class and they headed south on the river for few days.

Loy Krathong

Let me introduce you to Loy Krathong, which stands for "to float a basket,"and comes from the tradition of making krathong or beautifully, decorated baskets. Loy Krathong takes place on the evening of the full moon of the 12th month in the traditional Thai calendar. Thais celebrate Loy Krathong by launching their Krathong on a river, canal or a pond, making a wish while paying their respects to the water spirits. Thais also make them out of bread shaped like animals, so the fish will eat them. If you're feeling like you could use some luck, you can buy baby turtles or eels to free in the river too.
