Elephant World, Thailand

Elephant world acts like a 'retirement home' for elephants that have been injured, blind or are too old to work. They are a non-profit organization, which means that they are funded by visitors and donations. Every penny they earn goes towards making the elephants lives as pleasant as possible and, of course, retiring new elephants.

My advice for you:
Leave from Bangkok with plenty of time for traffic. It took us about 4 hours to get to elephant world from Bangkok. Once you've arrived, you will meet the group of people who are also helping for the day. The schedule revolves around cooking food pumpkin and other veggies, making rice balls, and measuring out the food for each elephant. Keeping in mind that some of the elephants have no teeth and some have dietary restrictions, so each elephant eats different foods. However, I couldn't get enough of the elephants nor could I stop taking pictures. Thank you for stopping by.
